How to Permanently Get Rid Of Roaches

Give them a cup of Java

I know it sounds funny but it is believed that caffeine can be extremely effective in killing roaches. Now whether the caffeine in coffee kills these roaches or the aromatic coffee acts as a bait is a debatable point. The core of the theory is that coffee grinds is one of the most effective remedies to get rid of roaches. They will feed on anything organic and if you have ever noticed, they are especially attracted to coffee grounds left over the counter among many other foods. So, draw them in and eliminate them. I have seen my grandmother do this on a few occasions and it's hard to argue the validity of it because for the most part her home remained spotless. I can truly say that I have only seen a roach in her home twice during my entire childhood. How did she do it? Well, here's what she did. She would take a mason jar that is filled halfway with water and place a small cup inside of it that has wet coffee grinds in it and she would place it where she believed roaches would congregate. Once the roaches got trapped in the jar she would simply dispose of it and repeat the process until she had seen that no more roaches were in the jars.

Just Outright Poison Them

Anything organic attracts roaches and so does anything sweet! So, this remedy uses sugar to attract them but what is used to kill them! Borax. Yes, borax can be as effective as the sprays used by your commercial exterminator. It dehydrates the roaches' exoskeleton and also damages their digestive system. This is enough to kill them. Now I know this may seem kind of sadistic but no one said that ridding your home of roaches required that you be diplomatic about it. Here is the strategy that you use to get the job done. You must simply hide the poison in a potential food source by mixing a little bit of flour, sugar and borax together and sprinkling it along the areas that are or may be infested with roaches. Thankfully this works very well with one of the most popular species among all the cockroaches and that is the German cockroach. These are the roaches whose body color is pale brown with two brownish stripes behind the head. The German cockroach has a unique capability of mass reproduction (at least more than any other roach species). Their average lifespan is approximately twelve months. So clearly it is of the utmost importance to permanently eliminate them from your home. If you don't you might as well leave out a note asking them would they contribute to paying the rent or mortgage because they won't be going anywhere.

Eliminate the Clutter

I know I said that I would reveal just a couple of quick remedies you can use to permanently rid your home of roaches but I would be remiss if I did not offer this very simple tidbit of advice. If you are someone who is a hoarder or just does not understand the value of not allowing your home to be cluttered then it is inevitable that you will always have a problem with roach infestation. Roaches like to hide in dark dimly lit places, especially where there is some moisture (sweaty dirty clothing). If you would simply organize and clean your home thoroughly that alone would go a long way in permanently ridding your home of roaches.
